Arden Oaks

Located in a picturesque natural area just outside downtown Sacramento, Arden Oaks is a charming upscale community with an abundance of wildlife and greenspace. Tranquil creeks flow through the community and feed into the American River. Wildlife can be found here in abundance, with local favorites including quail, pheasants, and turkeys. Bounded by Arden Way, Eastern Avenue, Mayoral Drive, and Watt Avenue, Arden Oaks is laid out in such a way that it feels like a self-enclosed enclave ensconced entirely in nature.

Major shopping destinations including Town & Country Village, HBA Shopping Center, and a Whole Foods are located just outside the neighborhood. There’s also an extensive array of restaurants along Fair Oaks Boulevard.

Development of Arden Oaks began in the 1940s, when property developer and equestrian enthusiast Steve Williams outlined a vision for a community comprised of large estates surrounded by horse trails. Arden Oaks has retained its attractiveness and luxurious sense of space over the years thanks to an early decree from the local Homeowner’s Association that each lot cover at least 30,000 square feet and no land parcel be subdivided more than twice.

Arden Oaks is zoned for the San Juan Unified School District, with numerous private schools and preschools also located within the vicinity.

Arden Oaks fantastically central location means there are more than 284 restaurants within a five-mile radius of the neighborhood. Haggin Oaks is the nearest golf course, located less than four miles away.

Arden Oaks is known for its large tree-covered lots and attractive homes. Ranch-style properties are common within the community, along with grand Colonials and European-inspired gated estates.

Neighbors join a parade through the community’s tree-lined streets with bikes, carts, skateboards, or Model Ts decked out with red, white, and blue balloons, flags, and streamers. The celebration climaxes at Windemere Park, with festivities including races and eating contests. Other popular local events include Easter Egg hunts and community barbecues.
